YES Prep Revises Mission Statement

At YES Prep, we know that student success goes hand in hand with transformational change and growth and we embraced the opportunity to review our mission statement to account for organizational, philosophical and community changes. A mission statement provides a true north star to ensure our goals remain relevant to evolving needs of our students and the communities we serve.

We are very excited to announce our new mission statement adapted to reflect not only our ongoing commitment that all students be college-ready but also ensure they have unlimited access to choice and opportunities.

Our new mission statement is:

YES Prep Public Schools empowers all Houston students to succeed in college and to pursue lives of opportunity.

Your household may be eligible for free high-speed broadband internet through a partnership with the Texas Education Agency Connect Texas (TEACT) program. A limited number of lines are available and will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. The deadline to apply is November 5.

Alumni currently in college need to renew FASFA/TASFA

As we shared earlier this month, October is the start of the financial aid application season. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) opened on Fri., Oct. 1.

Current seniors: Reminder, the State of Texas will require all seniors in the class of 2022 to submit either the FAFSA or the TASFA to graduate.

Families with alumni currently in college: Renewal of the FAFSA or TASFA is required each year for continued financial aid. You as a family are asked to renew your FAFSA or TASFA, in accordance with both state and university deadlines. You can find information about renewing your FASFA by clicking here.

The Alumni Transition Specialist team is here to help members of the Class of 2021 who need help renewing their FASFA or TASFA for the first time. If you would like their support, email alumni@yesprep.org.

For families interested in supporting their student, additional opportunities will be shared through the school’s Family Notes.

Upcoming information nights: Many third-party opportunities applications are now opening, and our partners will be hosting family information nights where students can learn more. The following are for our current sophomores and juniors:

  • Mon., Nov.1, 6 p.m. - Semester School Programs with High Mountain Institute and School for Ethics & Global Leadership
